We have divided the 40 hour DC SPO class into 4 modules.

After signing up, you can pick and choose when you want to take each module. Similar to a college course.

DC SPO Class modules are now held EVERY WEEK and certain weekends. Take them all in a row, or work around your schedule. After completion and your passing range certificate, you can process your paperwork with the District of Columbia for your Special Police Commission.

DC Special Police Officer Training – ARMED

Mandatory 40 hours, normally conducted over the course of a multiple days with one range day qualifier. (please review calendar for working with your schedule). Including:

Law & Regulations
General Duties & Responsibilities
Patrols, Access Control, Communication & Documentation
Emergency Procedures
Confrontation Management
Firearms maintenance, Safety, & Handling
Firearms Safety Rules/Common Sense
Basic Marksmanship
Use of Force
Fundamentals of Shooting
Course of Fire
Dry Fire Practice
Live Range Qualification

Our Instructors are Licensed by the DC Metropolitan Police Department/ SOMB and are Certified Firearms Instructors. This training is held at our PG county location.

Use of Force Continuum
DCMR regulations and laws covering SPO’s
Primary marksmanship instruction and weapon-handling
Firearm safety
Sponsorship to actually receive a DC SPO from SOMB

Weapon, eye and ear protection rental is additional. Ammunition is available for purchase at the range.

Students may bring their own handgun (.38 or 9mm) and brass-cased ammunition, if desired, to the range only.

Students must be prepared to pay these on the qualification date. No refunds.
